In 2024, ESPYS Awards nominees feature superstar athletes, including Caitlin Clark, Patrick Mahomes, and Shohei Ohtani.
Among the all, Clark is the one to get selected for three nominations: Best Athlete, Women’s Sports; Best College Athlete, Women’s Sports; and Best Record-Breaking Performance, credit goes to her achievement as the NCAA’s all-time scoring leader.
Along with Clark for Best Athlete, Women’s Sports are Coco Gauff, Nelly Korda, and A’ja Wilson.
Mahomes and Ohtani are both nominated for Best Athlete, Men’s Sports, with Mahomes also competing for Best NFL Athlete and Ohtani for Best MLB Athlete. Mahomes’ team (the Kansas City Chiefs), is nominated for Best Team.
Gauff has had an amazing year in tennis, getting her first major singles title at the 2023 U.S. Open and a doubles Grand Slam at the 2024 French Open with Kateřina Siniaková.
Korda has secured six LPGA Tour titles in 2024, and Wilson made the Las Vegas Aces the WNBA champion again and earned the 2023 WNBA Finals MVP title, averaging 21.3 points and 12.5 rebounds per game during the championship round against the New York Liberty.
In the Best Athlete, Men’s Sports category, Mahomes and Ohtani face strong competition.Mahomes recently got his third Super Bowl win in five years with the Chiefs, securing Super Bowl MVP honors for the third time.
Ohtani, is with the Los Angeles Dodgers, won the American League MVP award for the second time in three years, both as a hitter and pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels before his transfer. He now leads the National League in home runs, batting average, and OPS.
Other reputed nominees include Scottie Scheffler, who got six PGA Tour victories this year. He also recently won the Traveler’s Championship, marking his sixth victory of the year.

Serena Williams, will be hosting the ESPY Awards on July 11 at 8 p.m. ET in Los Angeles, airing on ABC.
