During the early days of Diablo IV, the game has been cited to be relatively light in its content or rather, devoid of some important and most valuable aspects, including the end game content.
Blizzard on the other hand has been trying progressively to solve these problems with each new season and bringing new updates to keep players interested especially those who have reached level 100.
One of such additions is The Pit, a high-level end-game activity which has modified the way players at max level grind for equipment.
Accessing The Pit
Before you can dive into The Pit, you have to go through some prerequisite. The entrance is located in Cerrigar, there is a Portal Activator which is an evil-looking, tall column, you will find near the central yard. However, simply finding the obelisk isn’t enough—you must complete the following tasks to unlock the access:
- Reach World Tier 4
- Make a Tier 46 Nightmare Dungeon
- Collect Runeshards
The Capstone Dungeon is unlocked at the levels from 60 to 70, completing the Capstone Dungeon, will give you World Tier 4. This step is somewhat easy to handle. The last key element is of a Nightmare Dungeon of Tier 46.
It does not matter which one has to be selected, however, it is better to select one of the already selected dungeons, for instance, Light’s Watch, Ghoa Ruins or Buried Halls.
The last one is to form a considerable amount of Runeshards to complete the requirements for the achievement. These are important for progressing through The Pit and by the time you get further, you’ll need hundreds of them.
Some of the ways through which players can get Runeshards include obtaining them through Nightmare Dungeons, by engaging in Helltides, performing Legion Events as well as achieving Whispers.
After all these have been fulfilled, proceed back to the Portal Activator in Cerrigar. This way you will be able to choose the tier from which your run is about to start with tier 1. They are programmed in a way that each successful completion leads to the next level, gradually increasing the level of difficulty.
Suggestions for Running the Pit
- First of all, aim at achieving the max armor rating of 9230, increase the quantity of your health flasks and improve your elemental resistances. These will assist you to sustain for longer period in higher tiers.
- At the end of each tier, the only player who benefits is the host, but you may bring up to four players along with you. This makes it easier to make progress when compared to the regular approach where the work could fail due to lack of enough time.
- Since you earn these rewards in The Pit, make multiple visits to the blacksmith to Masterwork and Temper armor and weapons. It also increases your equipment, perfect buffs, and your damage per second, all making it a solid addition.
- The most obvious mistake which can be done is failure to repair between the sessions of the dungeons. It can quickly cut down your survivability in the next tier, so always remember to look at your armor before moving up.
Rewards for Completing the Pit
Players run The Pit mainly to get back high tier gear and materials they need for crafting purposes. Every tier boss drops of legendary and uniquely enchanted items among which, it is possible to discover numerous junks. However, getting to The Pit is only one part of it; there are also rather unique resources you accumulate during the run.
Defeating each boss gives you material necessary for Masterworking, some of such materials are Obducite, Ingolith and Neathiron. Furthermore, you’ll get Stygian Stones that are needed to summon Torment variants of Uber Bosses from Diablo IV.
