The House of Hope in Baldur’s Gate 3 is known as one of the most difficult dungeons in Act 3, presenting a mix of secrecy, deceit, rebellion, romance, and a tough boss fight. Let’s go through the guide on how to reach the House of Hope.
How to Enter the House of Hope
To get in Raphael’s House of Hope, you need only one way in a portal to the hells, which only Helsik, a diabolist, can open. Helsik’s shop is located in the northern part of the Lower City, near the Nine Hells Forge. From the southern exit of graveyard, turn right, and her shop will be the second large building on the right.
When you talk with Helsik, ask for information about Raphael. She serves Mammon, the lord of money, and will provide some details after a convincing check. To know the complete information, you have to pay 1000 gold. Helsik gives you two options to get in the house of Hope:
- Pay 20000 gold
- Retrieve the Gauntlet of Hill Giant Strength from the House
For most of the players the second option is the most suitable choice.
After making your decision, Helsik gives you a grimoire that explains the ritual to open the portal and a pouch having the necessary materials. She also provides a key to the upstairs floor where the blood circle for the ritual is located and disables the trap on the staircase landing.
How to Start Helsik Ritual and Get in the House of Hope
To start the ritual, open the pouch and place the items in their positions within the blood circle. Specifically, the skull goes on the western point, the diamond on the left, and the incense sticks on the right. Place Mammon’s Coin to the skull’s right and the Infernal Marble in the center.
In spite of the emperor’s warnings about the dangers ahead, entering the House of Hope does not affect your relationship with him or any other character. Once the portal is active, connect with it to enter the House of Hope.
Before you get in the House, make sure that you have a party member who can provide guidance, plenty of potions, and avoid weapons that deal radiant damage.
Arcane Cultivation elixirs are also useful, and if you have someone who knows the Invulnerability spell globe, then prepare it for the final confrontation with Raphael. It is also considered wise to leave weaker party members, like Gale and Jaheria, at camp, as they can be easily defeated in the final battle.
Where to Navigate in the House of Hope in BG3
After arrival, you will find yourself in a chamber with four soul pillars, which are currently inactive, as you exit the room, an apparition named Hope appears, asking for your help. She gives you Debtor’s Attire, which automatically replaces your camp on, as removing them will spawn enemies and turn everyone hostile.
On agreeing to help Hope, she will then direct you to find the Orphic Hammer. Ignore the prison hatch in the next room and proceed to the feasting room, where you can speak with a skeletal mason for additional lore if interested.
The House of Hope is in a circular structure. The main way leading around the feasting room to balconies overlooking Avernus. You can connect with other debtors here to learn more about Raphael’s operations and the house’s grim nature.
Along the way, you will come across an open room blocked by an energy barrier, which you cannot enter yet. Opposite of it, you will find an Infernal Gem.
Passing a wisdom and intelligence check allows you to access the room behind it, containing rare items and Mol’s contract. If you wish to free Mol from her contract, you have to either defeat Raphael later or return the contract to her.
Conclusion
At the end of the hallway lied the Archive, where Hope reappears and informs you that the Archivist is the key to obtaining the Orphic Hammer. But there is a catch: you are not invited to this part of the House, making your task even more difficult.
